Abuse with an Excuse

Many people, especially women, have been victims of sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and rape. Many of the victims have been as young as the age of 12, even younger. While many criminals responsible for sexual abuse have been given the punishment that they deserve, the actions of other criminals, for some reason, have been justified. Many people justify the actions of these criminals with excuses such as “boys will be boys,” or “maybe she should watch what she wears next time.” Sometimes, these victims are so scared that they may hide their pain, with the pressure to agree with these excuses that society has placed upon them. They expect women to place a smile on their faces, or let the actions of those criminals go, not realizing the pain that they’re going through. It’s like a scene from a movie that they can’t get out of their head, no matter how much they try.
