Nasir Chandler was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since the age of just 3, Nasir gained interest in drawing from the inspiration of his grandmother, Rosilyn Palmer, who also was an artist. What started off as little doodles in his sketchbook, moved to paintings, then photographs, and then graphic designs. Nasir realized that his passion and purpose came from his physical manipulation of materials to generate his art and his creative and purposeful mindset, which led him to where he is right now.

With photography, Nasir’s work creates narratives surrounding specific issues and subjects which raise societal awareness, in particular issues in the black and brown community. With painting and graphic design, he utilizes his creative skills to recreate pictures, events, and scenes from well-known work, and make them his own.

Nasir believes that he has a purpose on this earth to use his voice, knowledge, and mindset in everything that I do. He believes that the use of art allows me to use my mind to create a visual representation of what he believes, what I’m passionate about, and what his purpose is. Nasir conveys that his artwork speaks louder than his words, and this gift shouldn’t go to waste.
